Welcome to Blended Learning and Online Tutoring.

A good practice guide in search of more good practice...

Book Cover

Blended learning and online tutoring has been in popular demand, and a great contributing factor has been the wealth of examples on supporting learners using online tools which have come from people like you: practitioners in Higher Education.  In preparation for the second edition I'd like to refresh the collection: so if you have examples of good practice to share, then let's hear from you. (And btw there are a few copies left of the first ed if you haven't got yours yet..)

I'm afraid the publisher is not in a position to give royalties to contributors, and we may not be able to include everything which is posted here, but I'll undertake to acknowledge the originators of any material which is subsequently used in the book, and reserve the right to edit lengthy contributions.

There are three sections where I'm interested to receive your examples of good practice.  Just click on Bright ideas for online tutoring or Blended Learning case studies , or Activity based learning then Edit and get typing.  The wiki password is blearn.

 Best wishes

Janet Macdonald

'For a book containing such a lot of detail it was surprisingly easy to read...This would be a really useful read if you are involved in designing, or setting up, e-learning. There are constructive questions, handy techniques, frameworks, anecdotes and comments that could save a lot of time in reinventing the wheel.Training Journal

'Overall, I found the book easy to read, full of practical advice, while challenging me to reflect on my own practice. The book is clear about the challenges involved in blended learning and online learning and offers suggestions of best practice and 'bright ideas' as possible solutions. It is a very useful introduction to the subject.' Ariadne

'This is a very useful book ... It too is a blend, and a very effective one-of relevant theory and the actual practice of being an online tutor. '   British Journal of Educational Technology
